In order to get an idea of the features that were needed for the app, we started out by researching popular existing reward apps that did a good job of providing exciting rewards and promoting products.



Based on our research, we learned that the most successful apps had a simple and easy to navigate onboarding process, a dashboard homescreen with an overview of product deals, rewards, FAQs and a additional section for the brand to communicate any other promotions or messages.
From our learnings, we developed the wireframes below.

For the design of the app, we aligned with existing 99 designs that were used for marketing. However, this app was the first digital project for 99 since their rollout of their rebrand so we were able to expand on the visual language to fit the needs of the app.
We used colored UI cards to visually differentiate the content and to communicate the playful 99 brand. In each card, we emphasized the price and product so that the user can quickly understand the content.
